Adding a New Device to Duo Mobile
Follow these instructions to add an additional device to Duo Mobile. We recommend adding a trusted family member or friend to your account if you are deferring for a mission so that you can access your BYU account during your mission.
1. Using an incognito tab or a browser you haven't previously signed into, go to my.byu.edu , and Sign In with your netid and password.
2. After signing in, you will be greeted by the Duo sign-in page. Do not immediately sign in to Duo, rather select the prompt on your screen “other options” towards the bottom of the screen.
3. Select the option to “Manage Devices”. After you select this option, the prompt to login with Duo will reappear. You can use a duo push to verify your identity.
4. Once you successfully authenticate with the duo push, you will be taken to a screen where you can add an additional device. Select the option to add a duo mobile device. Enter the phone number of your family member or friend.
5. After adding the phone number, it will send a 6-digit code to the new phone you are adding.Enter the mobile code into your browser.
6. Once the code is entered, it will take you to a screen where you are given a QR code or the option to send an activation link. Make sure the second user on your account has the duo mobile app installed and then have them either scan the QR code or click on the activation link. Once the code is scanned or the link is clicked on, the second number will now be linked and activated on your account.
7. During your mission if you need to get into your BYU account, you can choose to have the second user verify your identity with a duo push. You will need to ensure they are available to accept that duo push for you to get into your account.
