Network - Network Card (TCP/IP) settings for Wired/Wireless network
How-to Check TCP/IP Settings
Windows 7
- Click on the Windows Icon (Start).
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Network and Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Change Adapter Settings (on left).
- Right-click on Local Area Connection (or Wireless Network Connection for wireless problems).
- Check if it is enabled (the first option will be "disable" if it is enabled or "enable" if it is disabled).
- Click Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Click Properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Restart the computer.
Windows 8.1/10
- Click on the Windows Button to go to the Start Menu.
- Start typing "Control Panel."
- Click Control Panel on the right hand side.
- Click Network and Internet.
- Click Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change Adapter Settings (on left).
- Right-click on Ethernet (or Wi-Fi for wireless problems).
- Check if it is enabled (the first option will be "disable" if it is enabled or "enable" if it is disabled).
- Click Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Click Properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Restart the computer.
Macintosh OS X
- Click the Apple button.
- Click on System Preferences.
- Click the Network icon.
- Select Ethernet (or Airport/Wi-Fi if you are troubleshooting wireless) in the left side-bar.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Click on the TCP/IP tab.
- Select Using DHCP in the Configure IPv4 field.
- Select Automatically in the Configure IPv6 field.
- Verify that all other fields are blank.
- Click OK.
- Click Apple.
- Restart the computer.
Macintosh OS 7.6 to OS 9.0
- Click the Apple button.
- Select Control Panel.
- Click on TCP/IP.
- In the Connect via field, select Ethernet.
- In the Configure field, select Using DHCP Server.
- All other fields should be blank (delete any information in DHCP Client ID and Search Domains).
- Close the TCP/IP window.
- Save the changes.
